Hear me now and believe me later- EAT HERE IN GALLUP.
Okay, I admit I was somewhat taken aback. I saw the reviews, and then I drove there, and I was like .... oh. It's across from the railroad, and in an interesting location if you drive a few streets either way.
But inside? It's filled with warmth, cheer, good service and great food! We came for breakfast after hiking Church Rock trail and on our way out of town, and it was mostly locals. We were seated and immediately felt welcome- our coffee never dropped lower than halfway down in the mug, and the prices were insanely good for the amount of food we got (and for the quality).
Apparently, this place was taken over by a former waitress, and it's absolutely worth going to. For food, you can't go wrong - although I was partial to the huevos rancheros served "Christmas"-style (red & green). -

Wow!
If you're looking for breakfast, this is the place in Gallup for sure! Forget what you think you know about your favorite French Toast because Sandra's is the best.
And where can you eat where you are entertained with vey humorous sayings appropriate to the cafe. By the way, the service is super.
Thanks, Sandra, for a wonderful time. -

When I think of local spots this is it. A quant little dinner off Route 66. Serving up classic diner fare along with some New Mexico classics. I highly reccomend the Huevos Rancheros with (NM) green chile sauce. It's one of their many rotating specials. So in the off chance you miss it you will not be disappointed.

A nondescript restaurant located next to the railroad on Route 66. They only serve lunch after 11 am, so it's not an all day breakfast place. The food was delicious. The waitress was not as friendly as I would have liked but she was efficient. She probably realized that I was not a local due to seeing my out of state plates.

This was a great find in town. Small and down home gritty the Place was filled with locals, which is always a great start. The menu is loaded with traditional Southwestern and American breakfast. I went for the huevos rancheros Christmas style. Perfection. I only wish they sold the tee shirts
